In an effort to heighten awareness about the importance of being ready, the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency is hosting the 2012 All Hazards Preparedness Expo territorywide. This year's All Hazards Preparedness Expo will be  held from May 24 to 27 and will feature events and exhibits on all four islands.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have designated April 22 – 28 as National Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

In recognition of the National 9-1-1 Education Month, the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) visited elementary schools to raise awareness among young students about when and how to use the emergency number.

Tsunami Preparedness Week - Take the Time Now to Prepare
Federal and Territorial officials remind United Stated Virgin Islands (USVI) residents that disasters can strike anytime and anywhere. This is the National Tsunami Preparedness Week, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) urge all citizens who live along coastlines to take the threat of tsunamis seriously.

Experts Train Emergency Managers on Handling Legal Issues During Disaster
A team of experts from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Institute for Public Safety and Justice Homeland Security/ Emergency Management Division recently spent two days in Territory, providing emergency managers with key information and best practices in managing legal issues that arise during disaster response and recovery.
